The iron body is so solid it barely budges on my counter, and the wooden handle has a satisfying heft that makes each turn feel deliberate. It took a bit of elbow grease to get the burrs spinning smoothly after cleaning off decades of dust, but now it grinds consistently for my daily pour-over.

This old Spong grinder is built like a tank and looks incredible on my counter, the bench-mounting hardware makes it feel solidly permanent. It took some elbow grease to clean up the 1850’s patina, but the burrs were surprisingly sharp and produce a consistent grind for my daily espresso.

Took a while to get the grind dialed in, but once I did the consistency is remarkable for a tool this old. The bench mount keeps it rock steady even when I'm really cranking.
